Man in the Mist

Man in the Mist

We all know of The Silk Road, but few know of the Ancient Tea Horse Road, the 10,000 km trade route where tea porters carrying 200 pound walls of tea on their backs wended their way on foot through the treacherous Hengduan mountains, through Tiger Leaping Gorge and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and on to the wildlands and forests of “The Rooftop of the World”--Everest and K2--to trade tea for Mongolian horses.

Although the Mongols drank their tea with salt and yak butter for sustenance, we suggest 180 °F hot water with your leaves instead.

“Man in the Mist” is our tribute to the wiry men who, for fourteen centuries, braved these mountain passes to earn bread for their families.
